Empathy with the world around us, dealing with loneliness and acting responsibly are challenges we face today as human beings. Wolfram von Eschenbach anticipated them in his Epic of Parzival. The Humanities Section at the Goetheanum is exploring this early approach to dealing with acquired and developed values in the field of tension between East and West.
The Goetheanum Stage presents ‘Faust Parts 1 and 2’ this summer in a nine-hour staging directed by Andrea Pfaehler. It is the third year for this production, but the first without Covid restrictions. Many young performers are part of the ensemble.
The charity concert on 28 June, which will open the Summer of Culture at the Goetheanum, will also constitute the Goetheanum‘s festive reopening after cultural venues were locked down by the Swiss government in March.
The new production of Goethe’s ‘Faust’, parts 1 and 2, by Andrea Pfaehler (director) and Eduardo Torres (eurythmy) will premiere at the Goetheanum from 10 to 12 July 2020. Two more performances will follow in July and one additional performance in October.
The new production of Goethe‘s ‘Faust 1 & 2’ at the Goetheanum is scheduled for 20 and 21 June (director: Andrea Pfaehler). Both the performance tradition and the fact that all productions combine acting with eurythmy are unique in the world.
On December 28th, 2019 the Goetheanum eurythmy ensemble will perform its new program ‘Leuchtfäden’ (Rays of Light). It‘s about being on the move and the spaces in between. On the occasion of Ludwig van Beethoven‘s 250th birthday two movements from his string quartet Opus 132 will be performed.
The Kunstmuseum Basel has invited the Goetheanum to design two artistic evenings around the theme of ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’ as part of their ‘Dialogue at Christmas’: On the 4th and 18th of December, the visual arts and literature will come together.
The technology of the future promises liberation from the basic human experiences of illness, old age, and death. By downloading the consciousness of the human brain onto a machine, ‹immortality› will be attained. However, a person is more than a data storage medium: the human is above all else a creative being.
